Pool closing toronto

Pool Closing FAQ (Toronto)

1. When should I close my pool in Toronto?
In Toronto, most pools should be closed between late September and mid-October, when temperatures consistently drop below 15°C. Closing too early can lead to algae growth, while closing too late risks freeze damage.

2. What is included in a professional pool closing service?
A professional pool closing typically includes lowering the water level, blowing out and plugging lines, adding winterizing chemicals, removing accessories, and installing a winter cover to protect your pool through the off-season.

3. Why is it important to winterize pool lines?
Water left in the plumbing lines can freeze and expand, causing cracks or costly damage. Proper winterization ensures all lines are cleared and protected against freezing temperatures common in Toronto winters.

4. How long does a pool closing take?
Most pool closings take between 1–2 hours, depending on the size of the pool and the complexity of the system. Larger pools or those with additional features like spas or water features may take longer.

5. Can I close my pool myself or should I hire a professional?
While some homeowners choose to close their own pool, hiring a professional reduces the risk of missed steps or damage. Improper closing can lead to expensive repairs in the spring, especially in colder climates like Toronto.
